Search Engine Optimization Strategies - SEO Experts
There are many strategies that enter the arena with optimizing a website. After the review and analysis takes place, the search engine optimization firm will typically offer a detailed strategy development initiative. Similar to a marketing plan (or new product launch) the strategy acts to develop a roadmap to set the optimization methods in motion, and begin to return results to the client.
It is usually at this point where the SEO firm has a clear understanding of where the website is currently positioned with reference to PageRank, Index scoring, URL scores, keyword density ratio, and structure. Much like any other process, the strategic development sector becomes the most important. It will help the client get to their organizational objectives.
The SEO strategy can typically be represented in the following forms:
- Keyword analysis and implementation – knowing where the website stands with reference to keyword development and keyword density. The SEO firm should layout which keywords needs to be focused on and where they need to be represented in the text of the webpage. Keyword density is an integral component to this process. Google (and other search engines) will "look twice" and often penalize a website that has a large density ratio. For example, in a 400 word text, if the keyword (and relevant references) are stated 50 times (25%), Google may decide that the website is trying to inflate their PageRank score, and penalize the website. Since keywords play such an integral role in the score of the webpage, Keyword Strategy Development oftentimes becomes the most important phase.
- Site Map and Groundwork – in order to allow search engine crawlers to properly and efficiently navigate the webpage, a strategy is typically developed on how to move pages within the website around so that it is more clear and concise. The crawlers need to be able to move around the website and target particular words and phrases for which the website wishes to be ranked. Sometimes, the SEO firm will temporarily cut, move, and rearrange pages on the website to make a clearer image. (Think of rearranging the pieces of a puzzle so the image looks clearer.)
- Link-building strategy – setting goals to accumulate quality inbound and outbound links becomes a priority with generating credibility for the webpage. Strategies in this area typically include devoting a specific amount of hours per week to commenting on Blogs, Wiki's, and Forums to generate "real-time links". This is a time-consuming process as it involves ensuring the sources that are being contributed to hold relevance and would generate value for the website.
- Refreshed content strategies – SEO value is increased when information on the website is continuously enhanced and revamped. Posting an RSS feed, blog, and news releases help refresh the webpage and illustrate to search engines that the site is a valuable resource, and not a dormant site that is "collecting dust". After all, even customers may question whether or not the website is still in business if the information on it does not change.
Planning and implementing a successful strategy is essential to an SEO campaign. Taking time to layout the road map for success will undoubtedly point the website in the right direction to achieving their desired SEO objectives.
